This New Patently Insane ‘Game of Thrones’ Theory Suggests Jaime Lannister is Still Alive

2 min read

Despite the fact that he had an entire building fall onto the top of his head, some Game of Thronesfans lurking the internet actually believe that Jaime Lannister is somehow still alive and will make one final appearance in the series finale.

In a theory first concocted by conspiracy theory-loving Tumblr user WeedsAreFlowersToo, Jaime fans are genuinely attempting to make the argument that the “stupidest Lannister” actually survived Daenerys’ destruction of King’s Landing in “The Bells” and will be strutting out of the rubble in this weekend’s sure-to-be-devisive series finale.

First, WeedsAreFlowersToowonders why none of the Game of Thrones stars are posting social media tributes to Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as they’ve done for so many other characters.

“Why isn’t ANYONE acknowledging that Jaime Lannister just died??? Why is nobody in the cast thanking Nik for his performance? Why did Pilou and Lena’s insta post not say anything about Jaime dying? Why isn’t Nik saying anything about what he thinks of the scene? Why did he make a post saying goodbye to Lena, and not to the character he played for 8 years? Why is there no talk of Jaime’s death in the game revealed?” the Tumblr theory kicks off.

To be fair, the second part of the theory is far more interesting as it involves some semblance of tangible proof: a tweet from Entertainment Weekly editor James Hibberd.

Hibberd — who has been the one conducting all of EW’s interviews with Game of Thrones stars such as Lena Headey, Rory McCann, and Gwendoline Christie — gave an eye-raising response to a fan who was asking for an update about his upcoming interview with Coster-Waldau, saying that he’s “holding that one for a bit.”

Thanks! Holding that one for a bit…

Following Hibberd’s cryptic tweet, fans were quick to speculate as to why EW would release other cast interviews following their character’s arc conclusion but not Coster-Waldau’s?

Additionally, WeedsAreFlowersToonotes that Hibberd once said there’s “a character he was surprised to see alive in episode 6”, which, is certainly an interesting tidbit from someone as plugged in as Hibberd, to say the least.

While Jaime Lannister somehow making it out from underneath the rubble of King’s Landing would be absurd, logic and reason have seemed to be dismissed in this final season of Game of Thrones, meaning that anything truly is possible heading into these final 80 minutes.
